Here's the button for the Bunny Knit A Long! I haven't figured out how to use Picasa and Hello to host my images wiithout sending them through the main text of my blog first. Computer Science degree.

Bunny Faces! These are the bunnies that I made for the Easter baskets. Posted by Hello

These bunnies have a large post-it note for scale. They started out as an approximately 6" square of stockinette stitch. Posted by Hello

Bunny A Long! Happy Easter!

I just now signed up for the Bunny A Long, after completing a pink and a blue bunny - for each of the baskets. The blue one really reminds me of the rats in the Princess Bride bog scene, and the pink one has ears like Piglet. Hopefully they look better to me in the morning. All-in-all, not bad for only starting them both at 11 pm Friday night and finishing them at 12:30 between Saturday and Sunday. So....25 1/2 hours. I used the Easy Bunny pattern from HeartStrings FiberArts.

Last night I also started on a red scarf, potentially for the Red Scarf project. I went with Barbara Breiter's Chinchilla Scarf. So now I've got two scarves on the needles.

My mom sent some more heirloom knitting supplies from my Grandma's stash. Tons of needles. Circs, DPN, straights, all in a variety of sizes and materials (metal and plastic). That grandma of mine was a collector.

Happy Easter, Y'all.

The London Beanie is a FO

The London Beanie turned out to be a quick and simple knit. It's darn snazzy, if I do say so myself. It fits DH and everything. My first foray onto DPN, and now I'm thinking about trying my hand at socks somewhere down the line. I've been looking at gorgeous sock yarn here and there, but I might have to wait until late summer to make them, because round these parts, socks are winter wear.

I reordered my queue. I think I'm going to start on Knitty's world famous French Market Bag, but after I finish with my shiny purple acrylic. I'm using up the ball on some more Warm Up America squares, then I'll send them off to Major Knitter.

We have a red hat!

I got DH's london beanie started, and I'm up ready for the second contrasting colored stripe. Woo-hoo! Of course, I missed the increases that happen right after the ribbing, but I put them in when I remembered. Two lines before the first stripe. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.

My friends with the baby to be picked out yarn for their blankie. A very pretty light green - Cascade 220 Superwash, #850.

I guess that's it for tonight. I want to get some other puttering done.

In the round!

I got the RedHat going! No moebius strip. The right number of stitches for the pattern. All the good stuff. I think the key question now, is, is it going to fit DH? I have a roll of film at the grocery store, so hopefully will have pictures soon.

I think I'm going to use Cascade 220 superwash for the baby blankey. I emailed the momma-2-b a link to the swatches on the manufacturer's web site, so maybe they'll pick a color. I guess they've got a while because I have plenty to knit while I wait.

That's it for now - I think I'm going to kick some hat booty!

Knitting on the road!

Road trip this weekend. We dropped MIL off at my SIL's, packed up the monkeys and headed over to the left coast. That's right. Tampa. We saw some friends of ours who have a boy who is our boy's age and a baby in the belly. Due right around Tax Day. A cute little exemption to be.

On the drive I finished the fluffy bubble gum pink scarf, and started another scarf using a k3p3 rib pattern - inspired by the little box of scarves. This one is in Lion Brand homespun. Leftovers from the blankey I made for the little monkey.

I tried knitting in the round to work on the RedHat (a London Beanie) towards the end of last week. I got my pack of knitting needles in the mail. However, I must have twisted something up because I ended up with a Moebius strip. Unfortunately, my DH doesn't have a Moebius head. Frogged that puppy, and I'll have to start it again when I can pay attention to it. I finished the purple hat that had been languishing on the needles, almost done. Sewed it up and boxed up the two scarves and two hats and sent it off to Ohio.

I put in an order at patternworks. I bought some orange and bronze wools, still more needles, and a pattern for ballet slippers that I'd been coveting for a while after reading Purple Cow Knits. Oh, and I went to Michael's for lunch on Friday, picking up another skein of the Red Heart Baby Clouds in Pink Lemonade (I must confess that I'm thinking of making one of those scarves for me, after I make a hat to go with the first scarf) and some lavender Lion Brand Baby Yarn to make Blaze. However, I can't quite let go of that Nothin But a TShirt pattern that's all over the place. Maybe the next one. Hah. Good thing I'm working through the stash, I keep buying more yarn!

Like a big ball of Cotton Candy!

So....still waiting for my selection of needles from wherever it was. I guess I could check the tracking.

In the mean time....I finished off my ball of patriot Red by making three seed stitch rectangles eliglble for some Warm Up America action. I found some other yarn that was leftover from a blanky that I made for my nephew (I decided Garnet - one of the Florida State colors, my sister and brother-in-law's alma mater - was gender neutral.) Three whole skeins! So, anway, I think I'll use some of it for a red scarf for the red scarf project. Just need to figure out a pattern that will enhance it. Might need to look through the 365 stitches calendar.

But...and this is what I'm really working on...I started a scarf from some very pink, very fluffy Red Heart Baby Clouds in Pink Lemonade. It's almost sickeningly sweet. I love it! I used the "Farrow Rib Scarf" concept from the Little Box of Scarves.

I do still need to sew up the purple hat to send out. There are a bunch of packages I need to prepare to send out, not just for knitting causes, and I don't have any boxes (back of hand on head, Scarlett O'Hara style). Next trip to Publix. I swear. Or lunch on Friday. Promise.

New button. Sadly there are a lot of monkeys who knit out there. Hopefully, this one is less popular.  Posted by Hello

One more hat almost done!

The purple hat to go with the seed stitch scarf is almost done, It turned into a stockingette stitch rolled brim thing with a nice decrease to shape the top and a couple of stripes of the varigated seed scarf yarn, probably a little too high up. Got the finishing/decrease directions from Hip to Knit. Just need the ambition to sew that puppy up - that's my least favorite part of it all.

I think I settled on a pattern for DH's redHat. London Beanie. I saw someone else refer to it in a blog somewhere, and decided that it's the one. But, I don't have the prescribed needles. Just took an inventory. I'm suprised by what I have and don't have. So I ordered me some new ones from yarn market. Bamboo Crystal Palace ones. Some DPN and circular (16" - so I can use them on other hat projects). I want to get this "in the round" business figured out. I also picked up some navy blue for the stripes. Should be a pretty eye-catching hat. Hopefully in a good way.

In the mean time, I'm going to use up some yarn doing Warm Up America squares and probably send them to Major Knitter She's so excited about the project, that I just can't resist. Although, they're probably still collection the squares at Michael's.

Oh, and speaking of charities! I found a place to send the two seed scarves and coordinating hats! Interweave Knits has a charity page, and the Sunshine Foundation will give the hats and scarves to people who need them. So, this is good. My plan is coming together! It was really hard not to buy more yarn when I was shopping for the needles. I looked through a secret stash box and was surprised by what pretty, soft yarn leftovers I had. Now I kind of can't wait to use them. Also looked through the Scarf Box patterns last night. I've been seeing lots of these being knit up around the blogs, and now I'd like to try some of them too!

OK. Let me fix up these links, and I want to go finish my first rectangle.

A revised button. Posted by Hello

My brand spanking new Knit Monkey button. That was the name of my blog, right? Posted by Hello

Slow knitting ahead

Well...still working on the shiny purple acrylic hat. Believe it or not, I'm having trouble finding a place for these hats and scarves to go. Lots of the links around are from 2002. I'm going to have to go a googling some more. There's always the Dulaan Project Call me goofy, but I kind of want the hats/scarves to (a) stay in the states and (b) be free to a good home. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with warming up Mongolian people.

I got a package from my mom with more of my Grandma's heirloom knitting supplies. Lots of sets of DPN. I guess that woman wasn't afraid to knit in the round. Little gauge rulers, and a gadget that will measure your knitting needle gauge. Something I didn't even know I needed because I have a bunch of unlabeled circular needles - and I've been wondering how big they are, and didn't want to have to use PI to figure it out. The mm sizes are diameter, right? Not circumfrence?

I spent some time tonight making a knit monkey button. Let's see if I got Hello to work right and post it for me.
